The Causes of Hair Loss According To Ayurveda

Hair loss has become a major problem that is faced by almost everyone. In order to treat the hair loss, we should first know about the structure of hair and the causes of hair fall.

Structure of hair:

Hairs are elastic keratinized thread like structures. The hair consists of two parts, a shaft and a root. The root is embedded in the skin while the shaft projects above the skin surface. Hair follicle is a pouch like structure that surrounds the hair root. The hair follicle, at its deep end, is expanded into a hair bulb.

Each hair follicle is associated with one or more sebaceous glands and a bundle of muscle fibers. The capillaries and nerve fibers indent the bulb and at the center of bulb are present cells which have the ability to divide. When these cells divide, the old cells are pushed upwards which then die and forms the hard hair shaft.

The hair shaft consists of cells that are arranged in three concentric layers which are cuticle, medulla and cortex.

The outermost layer is cuticle which functions to protect the inner layers of hair. It is a transparent layer of cells and it gives a shiny look to the hairs. If the cuticle is unhealthy it does not give a shiny look to the hairs.

The innermost layer is medulla which is composed of two or more layers of large cells. In fine and blond hairs, the medulla is absent.

The layer between cuticle and medulla is called cortex. It forms the main bulk of hair and it also gives strength to the hairs. This layer contains keratin and pigment. The color of hair depends upon the amount of pigment present.

As discussed above, the hair follicles are associated with sebaceous glands which produce oily secretions. This secretion gives shiny appearance to hair. The secretions from these glands can become diminished during the period of stress and illness. This can cause graying of hairs.

Normal cycle of hair growth:

On scalp, about 90 percent of hairs are in growing phase and about 10 percent are in resting phase at a given time. The hairs in resting phase starts to fall after 2 to 3 months. At this time the new hairs start to grow in its place. The growth occurs at a rate of approximately 1 cm per month and the duration for growth is about 2.25 to 6 years.

During the normal cycle of hair growth only few strands of hair fall, but in some people excessive hair fall occurs which is not the part of normal hair growth cycle. The excessive hair fall has become a major problem for men, women and even children.

Causes of hair loss:

There are many causes of hair fall. Some of them are mentioned below:

1. One of the major causes of hair loss is hormonal imbalance. The hormonal imbalance can occur in women during pregnancy and also after delivery, which can cause excessive hair fall. In men, if dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is present in hair follicles in high concentration, can cause hair fall.

2. In some people there is excessive secretion of sebum which blocks the pores of scalp. When the pores get blocked, the hair follicles cannot get enough nutrition due to which the hair starts to fall.

3. Hair fall can also occur if the hair follicles are not getting enough nutrition.

4. Stress, lack of sleep and anxiety can cause hair fall by diminishing the secretions from the sebaceous gland.

5. Hairs also become weak during chronic diseases like typhoid, anemia, viral infections, surgery etc which leads to hair fall.

6. Medicines which are used to treat gout, depression and for birth control cause hair fall. Chemotherapy which is done for treating cancer also causes massive hair fall.

7. Traction alopecia occurs when someone ties their hair very tightly, which pulls the hairs from their follicles.

8. Hair fall can also occur in people affected with diseases like diabetes and lupus.

9. The other major factor that contributes to the hair fall is heredity.

10. Most people have dandruff and fungal infection of scalp. This also blocks the nutrition of hair follicle and causes hair fall.

11. Blockage of pores also occurs due to accumulation of dirt on the scalp.

The causes of hair loss according to ayurveda are described as follows:

1. When a person is exposed to too much sunlight, dust, water and other pollutants, the hairs become weak and then falls.

2. In many people excessive sweating occurs which causes hair fall. Excessive sweating is a major cause of hair fall in people who live in hot regions of the world.

3. Hair loss also occurs in people whose sleep cycles are disturbed.

4. Anxiety, depression and insomnia also lead to hair fall.

5. Diseases like typhoid, diabetes, lupus also affects hair.

6. Eating unhygienic food and living in an unhygienic environment.

7. Hair loss also occurs in people who drink alcohol.

Some Reasons, Misconceptions and The Treatments of Hair Loss

Posted by judy lee | Posted in Hair Care, Hair Loss | Posted on 07-02-2012

There are almost 80 million men and women all over the world, who are affected by the hair loss problem. There are numerous factors due to which a person encounters the hair loss problem. Male pattern baldness is the most common type of the hair loss problem.

The surprising and the shocking fact is that it is found in almost 90 percent of the male who are above 50 ages. The females are also suspected to the female pattern baldness and these both types of hair loss problem are attributed to the nature.

The reason of hair loss:

Male pattern baldness is also known as androgenetic alopecia. This is the most common type of hair loss in males. This hair loss problem is attributed to the Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that is developed in the male body.

DHT is the natural hormone that is present in the males. DHT has detrimental effect over the follicle of hairs. This causes the slowdown of the hair growth and makes the new hairs weaker and shorter. This hormone depletes the stock of hairs and stops the hair growth.

There are many other reasons due to which a person got alopecia and the hair loss. The treatment of terminal illness and unhealthy diet is also the reason that causes a person to become bald.

There are also many treatments available that can treat the hair loss problem. Surgical hair loss treatment including the Bosley is most widely used in re growing the hairs that is due to the male pattern baldness.

Misconception about hair loss:

Mostly, male blame their mothers for the hair loss problem. It is true infect, as mostly hair loss problem is inherited from the mother’s side. This is one of the major misconceptions that do not lay any ground for the hair loss problem.

1. Hair loss is not only inherited only from the mother’s side. Rather it is inherited from the both sides. Mothers and fathers both have genes that can result in causing the hair loss problem.

2. It is also assumed that the hair loss problem is solved with the growing age. This myth is also not correct. As, hair loss problem get worst with time.

3. Some people think that the hats and hamlets can result in breakage of the hairs. This is not true at all. Wearing something that is not causing the pulling of hairs will not become reason for the hair loss problem. Wearing of hair pieces and the weaves however, can result in straining and pulling the hairs. This can cause the traction alopecia.

4. It is assumed that massaging the scalp and brushing the hairs can reduce the hair loss problem. There is no such evidence in which it has been reported that brushing the hairs and massaging the scalp can reduce the hair loss problem.

5. It is also assumed that the sun causes the hair loss problem. This myth also does not have any truth. Excessive sun rays can result in damaging the hairs, but no one has reported that it can results in the permanent hair loss problem.

Hair Loss Treatment

There are many treatments that can stop the hair loss problem and in many cases, these treatments can result in the re-growth of the lost hairs. The hair loss treatments are grouped in to the surgical and non-surgical treatments.

The non-surgical treatment includes the minoxidil and the propecia. Both of these are very effective and have given the good results in many people.

Another way of treating the hair loss problem is the laser treatment. This is also very effective in treating the problem.

The laser comb is being used in treating the problem. The low level laser light technology is used in the laser combs. These combs coerce the hair follicle and force them to regenerate the hairs. This comb must be used for 20 minutes a day, for getting the effective results.

This comb is the handheld device that is why anyone can use it by her or himself. Many other technologies have been researched to treat the hairs. Laser helmet is one of them. Laser helmet eliminates the high concentrated beam of laser over the affected areas of scalp and treat them.

If you are also one of the victims of the male pattern baldness, then you can go for the hair restoration. This is the permanent and natural way of treating the baldness.

Hair Restoration

In recent years, the hair restoration has become the most famous and most widely used cosmetic surgery for treating the baldness. There are many hair restoration surgeons all over the world, they can be contacted for providing the stellar results to the patients.

The hair restoration surgery works by transplanting the hair follicles from the donor area of the scalp to the affected area. Mostly, the donor area is back and sides of the head.

This procedure is known as grafting. Graft over the head contains almost 1 to 4 hairs. And as, the donor area is not affected by the baldness, that is why they can give graft for transplanting it over the thinning and the bald area of the scalp. The result of this treatment is permanent and the natural looking hairs over the head.

Bosley procedure is also done for hair restoration. The patient can get information about the Bosley procedure over the battleagainstbald.com. This blog contains the feedback of Torrance and Seth who have recently gone through the Bosley procedure of hair restoration.

They have shared their views and their experiences about the treatment. This blog also contains the million of information about the hair loss problem and its possible solutions.

Seth’s Bosley hair restoration treatment has been done since nine months. And he has encountered the re-generation of more hairs over the scalp. Through this procedure, the Seth has been able to get the thick hairline and has able to improve his overall appearance.

Torrance has received this treatment almost four month back. He is now being able to see the clear effects of the Bosley procedure. Remember that, the effect of the Bosley procedure will tale almost 3 to 5 months to clearly show the actual picture.

Some Supplements That Can Help In Preventing Hair Loss

0

Posted by judy lee | Posted in Hair Care, Hair Loss | Posted on 02-02-2012

My father started losing his hairs when he was in his mid-fifties. Since then he started using different creams, lotions and heating massage pads to save his hair from falling, but all these things were of no use because, his hairs kept on falling until a time came when not a single hair was left on his head.

I believe that genetics play an important role in this. Some people have a genetic tendency to lose hairs.

The reason for believing that genetics also play an important role is that, my brother who is now 60 years old, is facing the same problem. His hairs are getting thin day by day. But now as the world is advancing, many solutions are available for this problem.

There are many causes of hair loss. This includes:

1. Genetics

2. Problems like stress, depression, anxiety and abnormal sleeping patterns.

3. Hormonal changes that occur in menopause and andropause.

4. Diseases like hypothyroidism and skin eczema or allergies.

5. Medical treatments like chemotherapy for treating cancer.

6. There is also a psychological disorder called as trichotillomania, in which people pull out their hairs.

7. A research was carried out in England, in which a direct link was found between smoking and hair loss. It also proved that graying of hairs is 4 times more common in smokers than in non-smokers.

Many drugs are available in the market through which some of the above mentioned conditions can be treated successfully. This includes Minoxidil and corticosteroids.

But some problems require more expensive treatments like follicular hair transplant, which is not affordable for everyone out there. The benefits of this treatment are long lasting and it is a surgical form of hair restoration.

The common question that arises in many people’s mind, who is 30, 40 or 50 years old, is that what preventive steps and supplementation can be taken to reduce the hair loss?

The hairs need plenty of nutrients to nourish the hair follicles in the scalp. So it is obvious that, to keep the hairs healthy, eating a balanced diet is necessary. It promotes healthy hair follicles and hair growth.

A balance diet includes equal amounts of protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. The most common cause of hair loss is crash diets which have become a part of our life.

This has also been claimed by Dr. Shari Lieberman who is an exercise physiologist and a nutrition scientist at University of Bridgeport. She says that: “I have seen a lot of cases of hair loss that occurs because most of the women’s doesn’t eat enough proteins. Many of them are ingesting lots of carbohydrate and they are avoiding proteins.”

In order to keep the hairs healthy, a diet rich in protein, good carbohydrates and essential fatty acids are necessary. Vitamin or mineral imbalances can cause many problems that can lead to hair loss.

Vitamin A is important for hairs. Its deficiency can cause flaky scalp but on the other hand its excess can also lead to hair loss. Supplements taken on daily basis can prevent hair loss.

But these supplements should be taken at an average dosage suggested by the physician, otherwise too little or too much of it can also cause hair loss. Below are given some important things that can help in preventing early loss of hairs.

a) Evening Primrose Oil and Flaxseed Oil. Both of these oils can help to reduce hair fall. These oils are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids which are necessary for healthy and strong hair.

Gamma linolenic acid (GLA) is a special fat found in evening primrose oil. This GLA is converted in the body to a hormone like compound called prostaglandins.

Prostaglandins are anti inflammatory compounds which are very helpful against eczema and skin allergies. It is recommended to take 1000 mg of evening primrose oil three times a day. This oil will prevent flaking and shedding of skin on scalp which in turn prevents hair loss.

b) Flaxseed Oil: this oil contains lignans. Lignans is a compound that can help in fighting against cancer, viruses, bacteria and fungi. 14mg of this oil daily can boost the growth and health of hairs and nails.

It also speeds up the healing process of lesions in scalp that can contribute to hair loss. Recently a researched was done to see that whether this oil is effective in preventing hair loss. The research included a total number of 10 men aged from 20 to 70.

These men were suffering from varying stages of male pattern baldness. The research showed that 8 out of 10 men had improvement in their hair loss condition. One man didn’t show any improvement and the remaining one man showed great improvement.

The research concluded that the daily numbers of hair loss decreased and in 50 percent of the subjects there was a decrease in secretion of oil in their scalp.

c) 30mg of zinc daily is helpful for people who have hypothyroidism. Zinc increases the activity of thyroid gland and in this way it reduces the hair fall.

To maintain a proper balance of minerals in the body it is necessary to take zinc along with copper (2mg a day). Copper can delay graying of hairs as it contains melanin. Melanin is a pigment that gives color to the hairs and skin. It is believed that zinc can also affect the levels of androgens which are involved in genetic hair loss.

d) To prevent the flakiness of hair Biotin (1000 mcg a day) and Vitamin B-50 Complex (1 tablet twice a day) should be used. They also help to reduce oiliness of scalp and they also strengthen the hairs.

The other preventive measures that should be taken to prevent hair loss include a scalp massage at least once a week. Scalp massage increases blood flow to the scalp and helps to reduce stress which can cause hair loss.

It is better to wear a hat when going out. This will protect the hairs from damage done by excessive sunlight. Hair treatments like permanents and coloring should be avoided as they can damage the hairs and increases hair fall.

Some Problems Of Hair Fall In Women

0

Posted by judy lee | Posted in Hair Care, Hair Loss | Posted on 28-01-2012

Most people around the world are facing the problem of hair loss. Hair loss has become a big problem for both men and women but it affects the confidence of women more than the men. In some people the hair loss is so much that it leads to baldness.

Hairs are more important for women because it increases their beauty and makes them look gorgeous. Hair loss and baldness in women can lead to decrease of self esteem. There are many causes of hair fall which you will find out by further reading this article.

In men the most primary cause of hair loss is genetics but in women this is not the major cause. In women the hair loss is related to metabolic problems like pregnancy, thyroid hormone deficiency, stress, chemotherapy, crash diets/anorexia, high fever or severe infection, major surgery etc.

The good news is that the hair loss occurring because of above mentioned factors is normally temporary. If you are facing any of the above mentioned problems, then the best thing is to be patient and take the necessary precautions from the starting. Don’t panic and take a diet rich in vitamins, proteins and minerals.

In females the pattern of hair loss is completely different from males. In males, baldness is very common but in females it is rarely seen. The most common pattern of hair loss seen in females is thinning of hairs and reduction in diameter of hair shaft, present around the forehead and crown of scalp.

This pattern is found mostly in women’s of forty years of age. It can also occur in females whose menopause has just begun. According to a research, there are about 13 percent of females who are experiencing hair loss before menopause. There are about 37 percent of females facing this problem after menopause.

DHT is a hormone which can cause hair loss both in males and females. In females, a hormone called estrogen is secreted in greater quantities which block the steroid hormone pre menopause. This blockage of hormone results in low levels of DHT and thus less hair fall.

Estrogen is secreted in great amounts only before menopause. After menopause, the level of estrogen decreases leading to a rise in level of DHT. The increased level of DHT causes hair problems.

After menopause the most commonly occurring problems of hair include: thinning of hair, decrease in growth of hair and general effluvium. The hair follicles shrink and the hair growth stops completely when a female reaches 80 years of age.

In most females, the problem of hair loss occurs because of decrease in level of estrogen in the body after menopause. Estrogen opposes the action of androgens and it also makes cell resistive to the effect of androgens by blocking the androgen receptors. As levels of estrogen start to fall at the onset of menopause, its inhibitory effect on androgen is lost. Therefore greater amounts of androgen are available to the hair follicle and stem cells which is converted to DHT.

Major Causes of Hair Loss in Female

The most common problem causing hair loss in females is Androgenetic alopecia inherited. This is also very common in males. Androgenic alopecia causes thinning of hairs and it also causes reduction in total number of hairs on head. When you start noticing any signs of hair fall, it’s better to seek medical help at that time rather than waiting till the end when no hairs are left on the head. Other causes of hair fall are given below.

1. Alopecia areata:

In this type there is patchy loss of hair from the scalp. The hair loss also occurs from other parts of the body which bear hair like eyebrows. This type of hair loss is autoimmune.

2. Traction alopecia:

It occurs because of continuous traction on hair follicles. It also occurs because of tightly tying or braiding the hairs. So it is important that you don’t tie your hair very tightly otherwise it can lead to hair fall.

3. Trichtotillomania:

This type of hair loss occurs because of stress and depression. It can also occur because of a psychological disorder.

4. Telogen effluvium:

It occurs because of drugs, poor nutrition and stress. People who don’t take a balance diet can face this problem especially people who don’t take enough quantities of vitamins, minerals and proteins.

5. Loose anagen syndrome-:

In this disease bunch of hairs starts to fall. It occurs while combing, shampooing etc. The density of hairs on the head decreases. The scalp hairs come out easily and this disease is most common in fair haired ladies.

6. Triangular alopecia:

In this disease the hair fall occurs around the temples.

7. Scarring alopecia:

In this disease the hair loss occurs because of a physical trauma. Traction alopecia can also cause this disease.

In market many hair loss products are available. Hair loss can be prevented or it can be reduced if you take some necessary precautions like:

a. Eat a balance diet. A diet rich in vitamins, proteins and minerals is very good for hairs.

b. Don’t tie your hair very tightly.

c. Wash your hairs at least twice a week.

d. It is better to prevent your hairs from excessive exposure to heat, dust and sunlight.

e. Use a good shampoo for washing hairs.

f. Oiling is very good for hairs.

g. Take good care of your hairs.

If you start noticing hair fall, then it is better to seek medical help. In this modern world many medical procedures are available which helps to reduce hair fall and causes growth of hair. Hair loss products are also useful to stop the hair fall. If hair fall is so much that it leads to baldness than the only option available is hair transplant.

Hair transplant is a surgical procedure which causes the growth of new hair follicles and thus new hairs. Hair transplant is a very expensive procedure and is not always affordable by everyone.

What Is The Relation Between Hair Loss And Hair Diseases

0

Posted by judy lee | Posted in Hair Care, Hair Loss | Posted on 18-01-2012

Diseases of hair can lead to hair loss. They both are interrelated and they shouldn’t be considered separately.

Common hair loss causes:

There are many causes of hair loss and they vary from person to person. There is no single factor which can be marked out as a common cause of hair loss worldwide.

The two types of hair loss diseases:

Generally we can divide the major causes of hair loss in to two main groups which includes: the temporary effect and a prolonged effect. Hair loss diseases which have a prolonged effect can also be triggered by genetics.

a.) The temporary effect :

The temporary diseases of hair loss can be cured by medications and treatments. They are generally for a short period of time. Child birth, using birth control pills, etc are some of the causes that cause temporary hair loss.

b.) Prolonged hair loss diseases :

In prolonged diseases of hair loss, treatments with drugs are usually in effective. If the treatments don’t work then the only option is to perform surgeries like hair transplantation. These types of cases require long term treatment.

Other factor that causes hair loss is hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalance causes a major hair disease and if untreated, it can cause pattern baldness.

Relation between hair diseases and hair loss:

A relation has been found between hair diseases and hair loss. A particular type of hair loss is mostly associated with a particular type of hair disease. Excessive use of hair treatments and styling products can lead to acquired hair shaft defects. Likewise, an unhygienic scalp can cause infectious diseases leading to hair fall.

The common causes of hair loss diseases:

The most common causes of hair disease leading to hair fall include: Hormonal imbalance, Ailment, Faulty hair styling, inadequate diet.

Hormonal Imbalance:

In men the major cause of hair loss disease is hormonal imbalance. In males, there is a key hormone called testosterone which gives secondary sexual characteristics to men but on other hand its excess also causes male pattern baldness. This hormone increases the hair loss.

In hair follicles there is an enzyme called 5 alpha reductase which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the most potent androgen which causes male pattern baldness. This disease is very common among men.

Hair Structure and Chemistry Simplified

In women, DHT is not a major hormone causing hair loss. The key hormone causing sudden hair loss in women is thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone is secreted by thyroid gland, so a hyperactive thyroid gland or a hypoactive thyroid gland can cause hair fall.

Imbalance in thyroid hormone leads to hair fall because this hormone has a influence on metabolism of scalp proteins, lipids, minerals and carbohydrates, so its excess or deficiency can cause hair fall.

Hormonal imbalance can also occur during pregnancy which causes hair fall. During pregnancy, the level of estrogen increases. This causes the hair follicles to go in to anagen growth phase. After the birth of child, the level of estrogen falls rapidly. At this time, a large number of hair follicles go into catagen phase and then the hair starts to fall gradually.

Hair loss can also occur after the pregnancy period is over. This type of hair loss is temporary in nature. If the hair loss continues for months after pregnancy, then there could be hormonal imbalance in the body which is causing hair fall. If there is chronic hormonal imbalance, then a proper treatment is required to stop the hair fall.

Ailment:

The hair follicles can go in to resting phase during serious ailments like severe infection, high fever, or flu. This causes excessive hair fall and this condition is called as telogen effluvium. This is a temporary condition and the hair fall stops when the disease is corrected.

There are various cancer treatments during which there is gradual loss of hairs. Cancer treatments prevent hair fiber growth and it also causes thinning and breaking off of hairs. The hair fall usually starts within one to three weeks after beginning of chemotherapy. The patient can lost up to 90 percent of hairs on scalp.

Faulty hair styling:

Many hair styling techniques have been introduced these days. Some of these techniques are not good for hairs and it causes hair fall. For example, in braiding cornrowing the hairs are tied so tightly that it can pull the hairs from their hair follicles causing hair loss. This type of hair loss is called traction alopecia because it occurs due to excessive pull on the hairs. It is better to make those hair styles that does not harm your hairs and makes you look good as well.

Don’t Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me: Over 4,000 Products Reviewed, Plus the Latest Hair-Care Information

Many cosmetic treatments are available in market these days which helps you to make your hairs look good. But most of these treatments are harmful for hairs. The treatments include coloring, bleaching, or hair straightening like chemical relaxing. These treatments can cause hair fall if not done in a proper manner.

Inadequate diet:

Many people especially women go on crash diet so that they can lose weight rapidly. These diets are mostly low in protein, minerals and vitamins. A balance diet is very important for hairs. In the absence of a balance diet, the hairs start to fall because they don’t get the necessary vitamins, minerals and proteins for growth to occur.

Some people have abnormal eating habits. Such people mostly eat junk food which does not have proper nutrients. Such diet causes excessive hair fall.

Posted by judy lee | Posted in Hair Loss | Posted on 20-12-2011

Hairs are by nature very strong and it has power to resist the normal grooming techniques. Yet, some poor grooming techniques result in thinning or breaking some of the hairs. There are several tips that can be followed for ensuring that your grooming technique will not result in thinning or breakage of the hairs. These tips are as follows:

It is always suggested to avoid the fine-toothed combs for combing the hairs, when they are wet. This type of comb can result in breakage of the hairs.

People usually comb the hairs when they are wet, as they feel it very easy to straight the hairs and detangle them. But, fact is that the wet hairs are weak as the stress over the hair shaft is very immense. Thus it results in the breakage of the hairs.

The same goes while brushing the hairs when they are wet. In general, brushing hairs is very god for the health of the hairs as; it encourages the flow of the blood to the hair follicles. It is also suggested that a person should brush the hair before washing hairs.

It helps in losing the flakes of the sebum and building up the dead skin. It also makes it easier to thoroughly clean the scalp while washing with shampoo. It is also suggested that over brushing and over combing the hairs can damage the hairs and make them fall.

It is also necessary to wash the hairs, but remember that over washing the hairs can remove the vital minerals like phosphorus, calcium, iron and nitrogen from the hairs. This becomes more valid when a person is using the normal commercial shampoos.

Most of the commercial shampoos contain the formaldehyde as preservative. Some commercial shampoos, disguise the formaldehyde by naming it as Quanternium-15, in ingredient list. This ingredient can be carcinogenic (cancer-causing) and can be poisonous for the entire body system.

Anti dandruff shampoos are the most dangerous shampoos available in the market and that is the worst news for those who contain dandruff over their scalp. Anti dandruff shampoos use the selenium sulfide as main ingredient. This substance has power to degenerate the function of the liver.

Other included ingredient in anti dandruff shampoos is polyvinyl pyrrlidone plastic (PVP). This substance is highly carcinogenic, and creosol. This has proven toxic that most anti dandruff manufacturer’s use. It is suggested that people must get rid of their dandruff from the natural means rather than trying the anti dandruff shampoos.

Hair Loss ~ Causes, Cures & Ways to Prevent It!

Natural shampoos are the much better choice and they are mostly found in the food stores. Some natural shampoos contain ingredient named as Sodium Lauyrl sulfate. Do not use shampoo if it contains this substance, as it removes too much oil from the hairs.

Some useful ingredients that must be seen in the shampoo includes following: The cocamides, Panthenol Pro-B, some courses of vitamins, nettle, sage, aloe vera, burdock, chaparral, chamomile, rosemary and horsetail. Keratin that is the protein must also be looked for in the shampoos. This substance helps the sealing of hair breakage in the cuticle.

A person must also see a shampoo for appropriate level of pH. pH balance should be 5.5 and the pH scale varies from 0 to 6.5 for acids, 7.1 to 14 for the alkaline and 7 is considered to be the neutral. The shampoos and conditioners that do not contain the above mentioned harmful chemicals are also considered to be the best choice for the hairs.

Remember that function of shampoo is entirely different from that of conditioners. So, do not avoid using conditioner considering that shampoo is enough for hairs.

It is always better to pour the shampoo over the hands and rub it before applying it over the head. Do not directly pour the shampoo over the scalp, as it can build up the shampoo over one particular area of the head. For losing the flakes, massage the shampoo over the head, with the help of the finger tips. It will stimulate the circulation.

Do not use the finger nails for making scratches over the scalp and scarring them over time. Remember to use the shampoo with warm water, this will open the pores and always rinse the hairs with the cool water, this will close the opened pores. Blot the hairs and dry them with a towel.

How to Prevent Hair Loss

Do not rub the scalp with the terrycloth towel. This towel has ability to pull the hairs and as hairs are weak when they are wet, they are more likely to break.

During using the perms and relaxers, a person must follow the directions given. Misuse of these things will result in causing the serious damage to the hair shafts. A person must also remember that over use of colors, chemical treatments, hair treatments and styling can cause the hairs to get damaged.

Perms and relaxers are having the dangerous chemicals that can result in damaging the hair shafts and follicles in the long term and can result in losing the hairs. So, try to avoid these chemicals and increase the overall life of the hairs.

Still, if a person feels that he or she is required to use the perms or relaxers, then it is suggested to use semi-permanent color or henna. This will lessen down the harsh chemical reaction between the perm or relaxer and the peroxides and ammonia available in the permanent hair dyes.

Also remember that a person is also require to avoid the over styling of the hairs. The over styling will pull the hairs and can result in breakage of the hairs. Do not ever tie the hairs, tightly. It is also suggested not to make tight ponytails and braids as it will result in causing the hair lost from the side of the scalp.

Remember that, when a person is styling the hairs, it is still in growing stage and it is still alive. Pulling the hairs and continuous causing scarring will result in appearing the patches of baldness over the affected area.
